Hizzoner’s group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, joined survivors of the 2011 Tucson massacre that killed six and seriously wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords with an ad campaign that launched Sunday. The ad aired during the Olympics and political talk shows. It notes that at current violence rates, 48,000 Americans will be killed with guns during the next President’s term. “That’s three Aurora shootings every day,” said Bill Badger, a retired Army colonel who was shot in the back of the head by Tucson gunman Jared Lee Loughner. – NYDN
