Some of the following you may know but I am putting it into context:
Before Tuesday 9/11, “Almost all the [Egypt] embassy staff had left the compound before the protest,” reports the AP, and the Ambassador was out of town. In other words, the staff was expecting a riot, but instead of having the Egyptian Military come in to secure the area, The Embassy staff – after running away – put out a statement early morning on 9/11 apologizing to Muslims who may have been offended by a film.
After or perhaps during the riots, the Embassy via Social Media stood behind its statement. Republicans at home ripped Obama for being sorry while American sovereignty was violated. Late Tuesday night, the White House said that Washington did not approve the Embassy’s statements and tweets, but at her press conference the next morning, Secretary of State said she is sorry that protesters were offended by the film. In other words, it was indeed the policy of Washington to apologize!
Late Wednesday afternoon, President Obama said that Egypt is not an Ally. Today Thursday, a White House spokesman said that people are reading too much into Obama’s words because the word Ally is just ‘a term of legal art.’ This itself is kicking off a fire storm because now the official White House position is that a country being an Ally of the United States is just a stupid legal term, and does not mean much.
If all this does not make your head spin, your head will explode now: U.S. Marines are lashing out against the State Department for banning Embassy Guards in Egypt from having live ammunition! This, they claim, is the reason why they were not able to defend the Embassy! But… now comes word that the decision of ammunition is always made by the Ambassador on the ground, which means Washington will soon claim that Cairo messed up again.
Sorry Democrats. You cant blame Bush or the “Republican Congress” for proving that Obama and his team are incompetent! This week’s rundown in Egypt brought to the headlines that New York’s former Senator is totally clueless and her boss’ administration is in total disarray.
