If Simcha Felder’s win over Abrahm Tischler in the Democratic Primary was a given, the following news came unexpected: Simcha Felder, apparently, won a Write-In on the Conservative Party Line. This means that Mr. Felder will appear on the Democratic, Conservative and Tax Line in the upcoming November Elections.
Sitting State Senator David Storobin will appear on the Republican line.
UPDATED: New Info obtained by GestetnerUpdates shows that the Conservative Line issue is not at all settled:
191 Conservatives voted on election day. Here is the breakdown: Storobin, the only name on the ballot, got 87 votes. In addition, there were 104 write-ins. 88 of those write-ins didn’t fill-in the circle that they intend to vote write-in. Those 88 are likely Felder votes who received stamps with Felder’s name to place it on the ballot and perhaps they forgot to circle that they are voting write-in.
It’s unclear at this time for whom the rest uncircled write-ins voted.
Aside from the direct and write-in votes, 19 Absentees were cast on behalf of Felder, 19 on behalf of Storobin, and seven via the Conservative Line.
So all in all the Conservative Party line count is as follows: Storobin has 87 plus 19 to a total of 106. Felder has 88 uncircled plus 19 to a total of 107. The rest write-ins and Absentees remains to be seen for whom they voted. I guess it’s up to the Board of Election and then the Courts to decide if the uncircled ballots can be counted. If yes, it’s still not clear if Felder has the votes.
UPDATED X2: Felder’s campaign manager O.B. Murray “highly disputes” the 88 uncircled numbers. He says he had 110 write-ins (up from the 104 write-ins my sources gave me), and that more than 90 of those write-in ballots were circled. He also highly doubts that’s Storobin has nineteen absentees. He says this line will be settled a 130 vs less than 100 for Storobin.
