A new poll by the AJC confirms again that economics, issues at home are more important to Jews in America than is their concern for Israel. Only 5% Jewish Floridians named U.S.-Israeli relations as their top election issue, and only one percent named Iran’s Nuclear Program as their main election issue. Worse, the Israel issue is only “second most” important issues to only nine percent of those surveyed! You want more? It’s the third most important issue to only 14% in the poll!
I have argued many times (such as here, here, here and here) that if the GOP wants to expand their base into the Jewish Community, they need to campaign on platforms and issues that are closer to home; issues beyond Israel. Polls keep backing it up! Not to ignore Israel; but to focus more on other issues. But my opinion which is based on polls, is dismissed as coming from “an anti-Zionist” or simply rejected by Israel-All-Day editors who don’t want their readers to see that the GOP is going into a wall everyday on this issue. So you know what my fellow Republicans? Keep campaigning on Israel, Israel, Israel all day among Jews, and continue receiving a small minority of the Jewish Vote. If it’s ok with you, it is ok with me too.
