Rabbi Shmuley, the Republican candidate in New Jersey’s ninth Congressional District, raised only $209,207 in the current campaign season. How little is it? Well, the Democrat in the race had $434,787 in the bank at the end of September. Yes, Bill Pascrell had in the bank double the amount of money Rabbi Shmuley raised during this whole campaign season.
Sheldon Adelson gave $500,000 for a campaign committee that works to elect Rabbi Shmuley. The Adelsons committed this week another half million to the NJ9 race.
But the $1.2M that went in favor of Rabbi Shmuley between the funds raised for his campaign and the money that went for the Committee that helps him, is only half the $2.4M that Mr. Pascrell raised directly for and by his campaign committee. Add the fact that Pascrell is a sitting Congressman, and add the fact that Muslims in the district who dumped Steve Rothman, a Jewish Congressman who was in a Primary with Pascrell, will be more than happy to vote against Rabbi Shmuley. All things combined, and Rabbi Shmuley has a very narrow road to victory.
