Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman intend to announce the unification of their Likud and Yisrael Beiteinu parties, a Channel 2 report indicated on Thursday.
The move, due to be announced in a press conference at 2Pm ET, may be an attempt to overpower a possible unification between centrist and left-wing parties and secure the election win for Netanyahu. The decision was made after secret negotiations between the two men with senior party officials on both sides left out of the loop.
According to Walla, a internal poll conducted on behalf of PM Netanyahu shows the new united party to win 56 seat in the upcoming Knesset elections.
