Many news agencies reported Sunday that according to an AP Poll, 18% surveyed think President Obama is Jewish.
According to reports, the AP asked, “Do you happen to know the religion of President Obama?” Here are the answers: Protestant 28%; Catholic 5%; Mormon 0%; Jewish 18%; Muslim 10%; Other religion 2%; No religion 35%; Don’t know 2%; Refused/Not Answered — 28%.
If you add up all these numbers it’s 128% of the poll… I am not sure what others, GFK who conducted the poll for the AP, are missing, but this is the simple math and it does not add up.
In the 2010 survey, zero percent said Obama is Jewish, while 17% said he is Muslim. It’s totally not clear to me why 18% will suddenly say Obama is Jewish. But with the extra 28 points in the poll, everything is possible…
