The NY Post Has a Love for “Rabbis”

The NYP had Friday a headline, “Thursday the rabbi got jail.” In it they wrote:

“Brooklyn Rabbi Lavel Schwartz was sentenced yesterday to a year and a day in federal prison for his admitted role in a corruption and money-laundering scandal in New Jersey. Schwartz, 61, one of more than 40 people arrested in connection with the case in July 2009, pleaded guilty in May to money-laundering conspiracy. Four other rabbis arrested in the sting already have pleaded guilty and have been sentenced.”

During the Weberman trial, The NYP was of the few to constantly call him “Rabbi” while most news agencies would refer to Mr. Weberman as “prominent man” or “prominent counselor.”

Perhaps only Rabbis commit crimes…

The child rapist called himself a rabbi. That was a lie. It’s also a lie to call him a counselor, b/c he is not licensed. As for prominent…no. Usually the use of that word is a positive, meaning someone who has accomplished something. This guy was a kiddie raper who sewed garments in factories and drove a car around for some rabbi. Then he decided to pretend to be a rabbi and a counselor. There’s nothing for him to be proud of.
