A Muslim woman caught on surveillance video photographing a Jewish school two weeks ago in Borough Park has been cleared of having any ties to terror groups, a NYPD official told JP.
The woman was caught on surveillance video Thursday, September 29, taking photos of Yeshiva Imeri Yosef Spinka located at 15th Avenue and 58th Street. The incident was reported to police approximately 24 hours later. The NYPD Intelligence Division was then notified of the incident and reviewed several surveillance cameras from the area.
The latest break in the case came on Friday, October 7, when the NYPD received a tip from a Borough Park resident who said he saw the woman in a park at fort Hamilton parkway and 59th street, Investigators from the Intelligence Division made contact with her and visited the woman’s house. She willingly went with detectives for an interview and told them that she always takes pictures from different things , the NYPD official told JP.
Investigators also did an extensive background check on the woman and did not find any reason to believe she is connected to a terrorism group, but the Intelligence Division will continue to monitor the situation, the official said.
