(Video) Franken stumps Justice Dept. religious discrimination specialist

Eric Treene, a Justice Department attorney, appeared before the Senate earlier this week during a hearing on hate crimes and faced some tougher-than-expected questions from Sen. Al Franken, who wanted to know more about President Donald Trump’s appointment of Steve Bannon to a senior White House position.

Franken’s question seemed to imply than Bannon’s appointment gives encouragement to those who discriminate based on religion, and Treene didn’t wanted to comment on the matter. Franken, however, didn’t give up easily, pointing out that Treene is the Justice Department’s Special Counsel for Religious Discrimination, meaning he is the number one legal authority when it comes to these types of hate crimes.
