On the second day of his visit to New York, President Reuven Rivlin visited West Point US Military Academy, where he was received by Dean of the Academic Board, Brigadier General Timothy E. Trainor.

The President was welcomed with a Guard of Honor, and the playing of both the Israeli and US national anthems. During his visit, the President met with around 40 cadets and heard from them about their training and expectations of their military service. Read more »

PHOTOS: Borough Park Preparing For Historic Snowstorm #Blizzardof2015

IMG_4390New York City residents and government officials have begun to prepare for a massive snowstorm that will intensify towards Monday evening. “This could be a storm the likes of which we have never seen before,” New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio told a news conference on Sunday.

Shovels and food were the main items in people’s baskets as they shopped Monday morning at local supermarkets and groceries. Read more »

Thousands of city police officers mourned slain officer Wenjian Liu in Brooklyn. Mayor Bill de Blasio, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton, as well as the father and the widow of officer Liu spoke at the services held at a funeral home on 65th street in Brooklyn.

Hundreds of members of the Jewish community in Brooklyn were gathered at 65th street and 14th Avenue to pay tribute to the slain cop.

PHOTOS: Synagogue In Ashdod Hit By Rocket From Gaza

unnamed (2)A rocket fired from Gaza directly hit a synagogue in Ashdod Friday afternoon, causing damage to the structure. Several people were treated for shrapnel injuries and shock by emergency services. Medical sources described two of the victims as males, aged 25 and 26, who suffered shrapnel injuries to their extremities. They have been evacuated to the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot. Hundreds Of Young Pro-Israelis, Activists Protest CNN’s Anti-Israel Bias Coverage [Photos]

2014-08-07 18.14.18Over a thousand people, along with hundreds of bystanders, gathered Thursday evening outside the offices of CNN in Columbus Circle to protest what is in their eyes media bias against Israel when showing images, footage and reporting about the month-long military operation in Gaza.

Hasidic rapper Ari Lesser, as well as Israeli signers entertained the rather jolly crowd, consisted of mostly young activists and Israelis, as they chanted slogan like “stop the lies,” “start telling the truth” and Israel wants peace.”

Rabbi Nachman Caller Gets Rabbonims Approval To Lobby Albany On Catskills Casinos

caller casino 058In response to a call by noted community leader Rabbi Nachman Caller, an urgent meeting was held on Thursday night at the synagogue of Rabbi Cheskel Roth to discuss the options of preventing the construction of a Casino at the site of the former Concord Hotel in Monticello.

The meeting was attended by more than thirty prominent Rabbonim from the Borough Park community. Upon conclusion of the meeting, it was decided that “the community must be urgently warned to do whatever it can to prevent the destruction” of several Orthodox Jewish communities in the Catskills consisting of camps, homes, and schools which would result from the building of a casino in the vicinity.

Israeli FM Lieberman Visits Lubavitcher Rebbe’s OHEL In First Stop On US Visit

Avigdor Lieberman, the newly reinstated Israeli Foreign Minister, arrived Tuesday to the United States to meet with Secretary of State John Kerry.

Mr. Lieberman’s first stop was at the Ohel of the late Lubavitcher Rebbe in Queens, according to Crown Heights Info. Mr. Lieberman was last month acquitted of all charges in his latest trial, after an ongoing 16-year period of police investigations.
