Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy is alleging the Muslim Brotherhood is gaining undue influence with the U.S. government. Speaking at the National Press Club, McCarthy cited what he calls substantial ties between Huma Abedin and the Brotherhood. Abedin is a top advisor to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. – CBN

Michele Bachmann has again ignited a political firestorm in the US, claiming last week that the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt has “infiltrated the highest levels of US government,” including the White House. The Muslim Brotherhood’s response? “I haven’t heard these rumors, but they strike me as ridiculous,” said Ahmed Al Nahhas, a long-time Brotherhood activist and leader in Egypt’s second-largest city, Alexandria. “Surely the United States government selects its employees very carefully.” – Global Post

In an online briefing for foreign reporters last week, Undersecretary of State Robert Hormats said that the State Department is trying to promote collaboration between small and medium-sized businesses in the United States and businesses overseas. In this context, he said he had talked to members of the Muslim Brotherhood about promoting smaller enterprises. He said he would be having similar discussions this week with leaders from Middle Eastern and North African countries. – CNSNews
